My story

Marco! Polo! We are looking for the world's best adopter for our boy Polo here. Polo unfortunately ended up at the shelter when his owner became homeless and had no where to go with him. Polo is now at the shelter hoping for better days ahead. Since getting here Polo has been a cuddly boy with volunteer friends. He's shown that he's a gentle and treat motivated boy who is glad to be around pals. He has met dogs here and has been quite dominant with them, so may be best with a submissive pal or being your only dog. Polo is now available for adoption at ACCT Philly. You can meet him any day from 10am-6pm. As soon I leashed him he eagerly tried to nose out of the kennel. Leash skills: He’s pretty strong on leash, but should be very manageable with a harness. Handling: He knows sit and takes treats super gently! At first didn’t seem very treat motivated, but just takes him a bit to be comfortable. In the play yard he got right into my lap for pets and took pets all over. OK with handling and no sensitive areas that I could tell- took pets all over. Toys: Ran after toys and explored them, but then didn’t seem too interested in fetching. Was pretty low energy in the play yard just sniffed around. Color: Gave him a gold sticker as he was very easy to handle and gentle. Per Staff 3/19/25: Polo did better in playgroup today. He was loose and played well with Cherry and Togi. He did however started to become "dominant" (growling, and humping) whenever Mouse came into the play yard. Overally assertive. Per Staff 3/17/25: Polo was very soft and scared during playgroup. We noticed when he was in the yard that he was limping so took him out of the yard. He greeted a dog or two in the 2 mins he was in there. ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in.
