Introducing Meridian! Sweetheart Chill Snuggly Velcro Dane Personality: Meridian is a sweet and loyal companion. She loves to follow her people around and supervise everything they do. Whether chores around the house, yardwork, or nap-time, you can count on Meridian to want to be a part of it with you (though often times it's supervising from a comfy spot on the sofa or her dog bed!). She is a cuddler; with ninja-like skills, she will crawl into your lap despite her size, and she’s known to sneak in big surprise kisses! She has the sweetest soul and gentle eyes. She is a super chill girl who just likes to be around her people. She is also a bit of a clumsy goofball… her antics are part of her charm. Socialness: Meridian adores all people! She has been around children of all ages and loves the attention she receives from them. She will bark at strangers outside but greets them nicely once they are inside. She enjoys the company of other dogs, particularly Great Danes and other larger dogs. When play is initiated, she will play with other dogs; she plays rough and has some prey drive, making her unsuitable for homes with smaller dogs. If she is in a home with another dog, ideally it would be at least a medium-sized breed or larger that tolerates rough play. She responds well to corrections so her behavior can be managed easily. When meeting other dogs on a leash or at events, she is neutral and does not bark or react. Cats are not recommended for Meridian as she tends to show too much interest in smaller animals. Likes: Loves her walks (she walks well on a leash) Car rides (especially when she can stick her head out the window) Food & treats Meeting new people Snuggles! Dislikes: Cats or smaller dogs in her home Unstructured play with dogs that don’t tolerate roughhousing Being left alone for long hours Training: Meridian knows several commands, including sit, back, kennel, come, off, up, go lie down, and car. Treats are a great motivator for her! She is housebroken and crate-trained. She is working on curbing her counter-surfing; again, she responds//listens to correction so consistency is the key. Health: Meridian has epilepsy but her seizures have been greatly reduced and well managed since November 2024 after being placed on new medication. She requires two different medications at the same time twice each day. She must also maintain a consistent diet, as changes in food can affect the effectiveness of her medication. Otherwise, she is in great health and thriving in her foster home. She tolerates ear cleaning, nail trim, and baths without complaint. Forever Home Wishlist: Could be an only dog or would enjoy canine companions too. A giant-breed breed or medium/large pup that enjoys rough play is preferred but not required. A family that can provide her medication at the same time every day. A home where she won’t be left alone for more than 6 hours at a time. She thrives with companionship. A physical fence is recommended to ensure safety while she plays but is not required. Fun Fact: SMeridian is SUPER chill and laid back most of the time, but every once in a while a zoomie takes over in a burst of enthusiasm where she races around and she can wrestle like a WWE professional with her canine housemates.
