This sweet girl was surrendered to an Alabama shelter because her previous owners didn't anticipate her size. Now, she's ready to find a furever family that enjoys giant dog cuddles, and is willing to share their popcorn with her! Gidget is a curious, fun-loving, and playful pup, who her foster mom describes as a "perpetual ball of motion." She has boundless energy during playtime and then crashes for a nap on her favorite blankie, which she will drag out of her crate to wherever she wishes to take a snooze. Gidget is extremely friendly with new people, eagerly greeting visitors to her foster home. In the evenings, she loves to be cuddled when she's tired, showing her affectionate side. Gidget is crate trained and sleeps through the night without issues. She's currently learning to walk on leash and developing good social etiquette, including sitting patiently before receiving her meals. She adjusts well to both indoor and outdoor time and accepts brushings and car rides with ease. Gidget is a true water enthusiast who loves kiddie pools, water dishes, bath time, and even mud puddles! Her foster mom warns: "If you take baths instead of showers, make sure the door is securely shut or you will have company in the bathtub!" She also entertains herself with chew toys and empty water bottles that she tosses in the air and pounces on. Gidget requires a secure, 5’ fenced yard, plus a canine companion to play with and learn from. She also needs committed humans who will continue her training and provide the guidance she needs to grow into a well-mannered adult dog. Gidget is a delightful pup who will bring joy, energy, and love to the right family. Are you ready to give this sweet girl her forever home? If you call or e-mail you are reducing your chances of adopting this animal as we direct our time and energy to first serving those who apply. NYS Registered Non-Profit Rescue # RR102. National Great Pyrenees Rescue (NGPR) has been rescuing and adopting out Great Pyrenees since 2006. Our relationship doesn’t end with adoption, as we continue to support adopters throughout the lifetime of their dog. Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority. April 10, 2025, 12:13 pm
