My story

A26326 Carrie is a tan colored, approximately 2-year-old, 72-pound, spayed female, German Shepherd mix. She entered the shelter as an owner surrender on 03-15-2025 due to the fact she lost her home and was currently homeless. Carrie is a friendly, but timid and shy girl here in the shelter. She is getting better each day but was really scared and nervous when she first came into the shelter. She is going to need a patient owner who will give her time to decompress and get comfortable. Along with giving her plenty of time and attention. Our staff describes her as a shy girl who really doesn’t seek out affection but does enjoy love and attention. She was easy to leash and well behaved during our walks. No pulling or bad behavior. If she gets scared of something she will freeze and need encouragement to get going again. She has had some training and will “sit” upon command. But only for a moment, she is seeking reassurance more than anything in the unknown shelter environment. She shows no interest in other dogs here at the shelter. However, she was housed with another dog her size, and they got along. She is looking for a nice quiet home with a loving person. We would recommend a home with no small children, due to how nervous she is here. The previous owner says she is house broken, used a doggy door and has lived with other dogs, but not cats or children. She did say she did resource guard her food. Carrie will be a loyal companion in her new forever home.
