Cheryl

My story

A28268 Cheryl is a black merle colored, approximately 3-year-old, 61-pound, spayed female, Australian Shepherd. She entered the shelter as an owner surrender on 06-01-2025 due to allergies and her “beating up tortoises.” Cheryl is a friendly, but timid and shy girl here at the shelter. She is still trying to figure out this shelter environment and why she is here. She is nervous around new people but if you go slow, she warms up quickly. She then wants to always be right next to you and is very loving. Our staff says she is a friendly and playful girl once she warms up. She is just unsure and takes a minute to warm up to new people. She was easy to leash and well behaved during our walks. She has had some training and will “sit” upon command, especially if you have treats. She shows no interest in other dogs here at the shelter. The previous owner says she is house broken and lived with other dogs, cats and children. She did say that she was great with kids, that she has 5 kids, and she did OK with cats. She did not seem to get along with other female dogs but did fine with males. She also said that Cheryl can jump a 6-foot wall and will hurt herself to get over them sometimes. Cheryl will be a loyal, fun-loving family member in her new forever home.
