My story

Meet Marcille – Your Sweet, Playful Companion in Waiting! At just 1.5 years old and a perfect 42 pounds, Marcille is a bundle of love, playfulness, and gentle charm. This affectionate girl adores belly rubs, rolling on her back in pure joy, and checking in with her human for reassurance and a few kind words. Marcille is not timid—she’s friendly with people and always ready to make a new friend (though she sometimes forgets her manners and may try to jump up to say hello—an easy fix with a short leash and some gentle guidance). She walks beautifully on leash, never pulls, and often pauses to look up at you for comfort or encouragement, sometimes with a soft whine that says, "Are we still doing okay?" A calm “good girl” or a couple of reassuring pets go a long way with her. While she’s a little nervous getting into the car, once she’s in, she rides calmly and quietly. She’s a smart cookie too—Marcille already knows sit, down, and paw, especially when there are treats involved! After a bit of play and exercise, Marcille is content to curl up by your side and soak in your affection. She’s looking for someone who can be her safe space—a kind, steady companion to share love, playtime, and a cozy spot on the couch. If you're ready to welcome a loving, playful soul who just needs a little extra reassurance now and then, Marcille might be your perfect match. As always, we strongly recommend bringing any resident dogs to the shelter for a meet and greet with potential new family members to be sure it's a good match. If bringing a dog for a meet and greet, please bring proof of up to date rabies, bordetella, and DHPP vaccines. To meet your future pet, come to Guilford County Animal Services between 12 and 4 any day except Tuesday!
