My story

Fern – Funny Faces Friend! 🐾 Age: 1 year, 9 months 🐾 Weight: 34 lbs 🐾 Status: Ready to steal your heart! Meet Fern, the ultimate combination of goofball charm and tender-hearted devotion! With a face that changes from class clown to sweet soul in an instant, Fern is a walking personality parade. One minute she’s making you laugh with her silly expressions, the next she’s gently laying her head in your lap like the most loyal little shadow. Fern is the queen of quirky. Her walking style? Let's call it “creative”—never a straight line, but always full of curiosity and joy. She’s captivated by scents and nature’s little surprises, and she makes every walk an adventure. While she does tend to pull on leash, she's already showing promise with walking calmly at your side—especially when she knows she’s doing a good job. She thrives on encouragement and kind words! She hops in and out of the car like a pro (but be warned: if she’s not harnessed in, your lap will become her seat of choice). Fern isn’t particularly toy-motivated, but she’ll do anything for a treat—even the ones most dogs turn their noses up at! Just be sure to offer them on a flat hand—Fern’s enthusiasm is real! And guess what? She’s even a fan of pellet ice cubes. Though Fern isn’t a high-energy zoomie machine, she loves a laid-back stroll and a good splash in the creek. She’s the ideal buddy for someone who wants a chill companion with the occasional silly sprint. More than anything, Fern just wants to be near you. Whether she’s curled up at your side or trying to sneak into your lap for snuggles, she’s a total velcro pup who adores her humans. With a little love, positive reinforcement, and lots of “good girl” affirmations, Fern blossoms right before your eyes. If you’re looking for a loyal, lovable, slightly dorky best friend with a heart as big as her funny face collection, Fern is fabulous—and she’s waiting just for you. As always, we strongly recommend bringing any resident dogs to the shelter for a meet and greet with potential new family members to be sure it's a good match. If bringing a dog for a meet and greet, please bring proof of up to date rabies, bordetella, and DHPP vaccines. To meet your future pet, come to Guilford County Animal Services between 12 and 4 any day except Tuesday!

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Fern, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
