Waffles

My story

My foster writes: After giving birth to pups less than a month ago, Waffles is a sweet little mama bear with so much love to give. With her adorable black and white face split perfectly down the middle, she is a serious attention-getter. So many passers-by comment on her unique looks, ask if they can say hello, and Waffles happily obliges. She absolutely loves people, and has never not been in the mood to make a new friend. She's come alive with excitement every time I've had company and she has new friends to play with (the real highlight being when I hosted a poker game and she got to hang with all the dudes). Which is a nice segue to say: Waffles loves attention, whether playing or cuddling. She's complained to me during the day when I've had to work at my computer and she's felt neglected. But taking breaks is the best when I can hop on my couch with her and she snuggles into me. Which leads to my absolute favorite thing about her: she oinks and honks like a little pig when she's excited or exploring something new, whether that means getting pets and rubs, smelling and nuzzling into a new person, toy, or pillow, or the anticipation of a meal or treat, her little oinks and honks are just delightful, and I affectionately call her "Ms Piggy". Having fostered before with a much younger and untrained dog, I was immediately taken with how well behaved, attentive, and obedient Waffles was right from the start. She knows some commands such as "sit" "paw" "come" and "up" (though she might just be doing that last one on her own), and doesn't pull on the leash on walks, instead keeping in step with me. She is incredibly food motivated, sometimes impatiently so, but with a little time and effort, I have no doubt she can learn more commands and with more prolonged focus. All in all, Waffles is a truly incredible dog and is going to make the most amazing companion to the lucky person, couple, or family fortunate enough to be able to adopt her.
