Toksha

My story

Toksha is showing conflicted behavior and is not open to interaction at this time and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. Her previous owner reports she is a bit shy but affectionate. She likes sleeping in bed with her family and enjoys sleeping and playing. She follows family around and being in the same room as people. We believe the behavior seen in the care center is shelter-specific and this cat would make a great pet, but is really struggling in the shelter environment. This cat is suitable for adopters with previous cat experience who are willing to work with a cat who needs time and patience to help her adjust to their new home.A volunteer writes: Toksha used to love to snuggle up in bed with her family and follow them around the house. She's trying to hold onto who she was, but settling into shelter life hasn't been the easiest for her. When I opened the door to her condo, Toksha came racing to the front to greet me before hopping back to her cubby. Thinking for a moment, Toksha came out again... only to leap to her top condo ledge. I know very well that making new friends is a process and so is sorting through change. Change, of course, happens, though accepting that fact often doesn't make it any easier. Toksha has let us know that, although she likes us to visit and will often stay at the front of her condo to explain this, she's also keen to keep visits short. She's sorting through some things at the moment and it's important to look at the whole. Brought to us due to her persons' housing issues, Toksha has been a very well loved cat and she certainly will be again. Primary Color: Tabby Weight: 8.9 Age: 2yrs 0mths 1wks
