While the game of chess may be considered complicated, our Chess is pretty simple! This regal gentleman and a friend found their way to a Good Samaritan who allowed these two boys to spend the evening before a morning trip to KC Pet Project. Now that he`s here, he`s working on his walking skills with staff and volunteers, very important for a good-sized boy. (And he`s already charmed one of those volunteers with his gorgeous eyes!). He loves toys and is treat-motivated - something that is very helpful for training! He`s already learned sit and is described as friendly and playful.Chess keeps his kennel clean and waits to potty outside. This tells us he is likely housetrained. He has told us that he`d prefer to go home with female doggy siblings instead of male and definitely prefers romping instead of quiet playtime. Our shelter staff will help introduce him to any girl pups in the home, to be sure everyone gets along, just like they do for all the other dogs here.Chess recently got to go on a Dog Day Out adventure and made quite the impression! -- `I had a wonderful day with Chess; he is a very well-behaved dog. First, I took him home and we took a walk around the block; he did pull quite a bit at the beginning. He was a little excited, but he calmed down quickly. My aunt came over to visit and brought her four-year-old daughter and Chess was very well behaved with the little girl Let her pet him. Then we went to Longview Trail, where we walked two miles. He was very good in the car; he sat in the backseat, stared out the window at times and looked at me. I took him back home where we spent about an hour and a half in the house. I took a nap on the couch. He laid right next to me on the floor. I truly enjoyed my day with Chess!`Lucky Chess had a chance for a second trip out of the shelter for a day, and these hosts were similarly impressed! `We took Chess to the park and he had a lovely time. He walked past other dogs with no issue at all. He came back to our house and took in all the cuddles and relaxation. He met several new people and did a fantastic job! He greeted everyone very politely and laid down to take a nap in a room full of people.`Chess is vaccinated, neutered and microchipped. Interested? Chess is living in a foster home. To meet him or learn more, email foster@kcpetproject.org.His ADOPTION FEE IS WAIVED! We want all our dogs to have homes as quickly as possible. In an effort
