My story

Maeve came to us from our friends at our local intake shelter. She was on the adoption floor only to for the staff to walk in one day and see her with a single puppy. There was no signs showing that she was pregnant and here we were with one baby, which was also to our surprise. Our friends called us and we took in Maeve and her baby Margo. Maeve is the sweetest girl, she is estimated to be 2 years old and just a puppy herself, but somehow a mom, and also became a surrogate mama to some babies who found themselves no accepted by theirs. She truly showed every act of kindness that a dog could. Understanding, loving, and ready for whatever. We are so thankful that it is her time to be the center of attention and find a home of her own. Maeve is potty trained and crate trained. She only gets excited here and there when she gets home, but other than that is quiet as needed in her kennel. She does a little happy dance when it's food time. She is great with other dogs and has adapted easily to meeting and playing with different sizes and personalities. She is an off an on switch kind of girl, meaning she will absolutely follow you when you bring out her harness but also join you on the couch to watch your favorite crime shows. I don't know what her life looked like before she found herself at the shelter so some training and routine will be needed, however she came 100% be bought by any treat you will give her. If you are looking for a dog who is loyal, fun, and trainable she is definitely looking for your home. Maeve is looking for a foster to adopt home as she is still awaiting for her spay appointment after having a baby of her own. Her forever home has to be committed to ensuring that she makes this appointment at our Irving Park veterinarian partner on 4/22, so for this reason we are currently only accepting applications within 2 hours of Chicagoland area. If you have any questions please applying please email adopt@chicagorescueauthority.org or apply directly!

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Maeve, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
