Sivela is a tender-hearted girl who’s still learning that the world can be a safe and gentle place. When first approached in her kennel her eyes were wide, ears pinned back, unsure of what to expect. But when offered treats and patience, she bravely came forward, allowing her leash to be gently looped. Leaving the kennel takes a little time right now—but with some gentle leash guidance, she’ll find the courage to step outside. Once out, she walks calmly on leash, keeping her distance at first but slowly closing the gap when her handler sat or crouched. She never pulled and showed consistent signs of being cautious yet curious. She doesn’t seek out affection just yet, but she stays close once she’s settled, leaning into moments of calm connection. With a soft-spoken, patient person by her side, Sivela has the potential to blossom into a loyal, loving pup. If you’re someone who believes in slow beginnings and powerful bonds, Sivela is ready to start her journey with you. Meet her at ACCT Philly any day from 10 am to 6 pm. She approached for treats and I was able to loop the leash on easily using treats to lure her forward. LEASH SKILLS: She would not leave the kennel the first time, so I stopped and came back a second time. The bed was moved closer to the door and she came off the bed and out with some leash pressure and a treat scatter on the ground. She did not pull on leash and was avoidant of the handler initially, coming forward only for treats initially. She would approach me when I crouched down or sat down. Tail was low most of the time, tucked at some points, ears back, soft eyes, averting her gaze. HANDLING : I was able to touch her on her ears, paws, back, neck and tail. She was tolerant with consistent body language of tail down not wagging, soft eyes, closed mouth, ears back. PLAY: No interest in playing or toys TOYS: no interest DOG MEET: met Willow through the fence, she sniffed and was then uninterested. Approached with head low, averting her gaze, ears back, tail down not wagging, lip lick. 04/09/2025 staff notes, playgroup: Fearful, avoidant, uninterested in other dogs, tolerant of greetings, overwhelmed in yard. 04/08/2025 staff notes: Founders noted they were scared and not welcoming to leashing. Also informed us of Male reactivity. While intaking, were hard barking in car but both calmed down once leashed and out of the car.
