Hugo

My story

Hugo is a very thin pup who was recently brought in after being trapped by our amazing APOs. He’s understandably nervous in our care, likely due to discomfort and stress, but we’re working to help him feel safe and comfortable. Hugo appears to have some old wounds on his body, but we’re hopeful with care and attention, he can start to recover both physically and emotionally. This sweet boy is slowly adjusting to his new environment and will need time, patience, and gentle handling. Updates will follow as we work with him, but for now, Hugo is in need of a quiet, loving space where he can heal and regain his trust in people. Today was my first time meeting him and he greeted me like an old friend. Hugo is a SUPER playful boy, he loves fetch! He will drop it for either another ball or a treat. He will also play independently by throwing the ball around and chasing it. Hugo was very affectionate and loved to be pet, he rubbed his body against me like a cat. He’s very thin so obviously was excited for treats, but did sit politely. Is sometimes snatchy with treats but seems to know how to take gently. Hugo doesn’t like returning to kennel, I had to pick him up which he was tolerant of. 04/09/2025 staff notes, intake: Keeps low growling, had to use the stick to get him.
