My story

Meet Princess!Princess is a four-year-old, medium-sized mixed breed with a heart as big as her name suggests! She has spent her life in a home with kids and another dog, but after five years, she found herself at the shelter due to unforeseen circumstances. Now, she's looking for a fresh start with a family who will give her the love and structure she deserves. My Ideal Home:Princess is an active girl who thrives with structure and routine. She would do best in an adult-only home or a household with older teenagers (13+). Since she has some resource-guarding tendencies and prefers her own space, she will be happiest as the only pet in the home. Princess will need patient adopters who can provide consistent positive reinforcement training and enrichment activities to keep her engaged.Good with Kids?Princess has previously lived with children and has shown to be friendly and tolerant. However, due to her resource-guarding behavior, she would do best in a home with adults or older teenagers who can respect her boundaries.Good with Other Dogs?Princess has lived with another dog in the past but prefers to be the only pet. She tolerates familiar dogs but may lunge or bark at unfamiliar dogs, so she would do best in a single-pet home without trips to dog parks.Leash Manners:Princess is a strong girl with high energy and can pull on the leash, especially when she sees small animals. She will benefit from a front-clip harness and reward-based training to improve her leash manners.Overall Health:Princess is a healthy, active dog. She will need regular exercise and mental stimulation to keep her happy. She is not yet spayed but will need to be as part of her adoption.Behavior Determination:Princess is a Level 4 behavior dog, meaning she will need experienced adopters who can manage her resource guarding and leash reactivity. With proper training and patience, she has the potential to thrive in a structured and loving home.My #BoroughBreak Buddy Writes: Princess is a darling. She's so excited to go on walks-she wants to sniff the grass, anything with dirt on it, and if she sees a pigeon or a squirrel, she'll want to chase after it-but that's not a bad thing! Princess is also very friendly. She loves people and will happily greet them. She's very smart, too. She already knows her name and will come over when you call her. She knows how to sit, and while we were out, I taught her to wait for treats and she learned so quickly! She loves to be petted on the head and scratched on her back and once you start scratching her back, she won't want you to stop! She's an amazing dog and deserves a wonderful home!A Volunteer Wrote: The volunteers adore her. This kind, sweet girl's crate is never messy, she's a gorgeous leash walker, and she gives some of the best hugs and snuggles we've ever had. She's grateful for even the slightest bit of affection, and we are so eager for her to have another shot of a lifetime of it! Primary Color: Brown Weight: 41.5 Age: 4yrs 2mths 3wks

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Princess, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
