This dog is NOT part of A&B. If you are interested in learning more about Rosie, contact her current foster, Karen Becker at dkjebecker@gmail.com Requirements to Adopt: Rosie loves the humans, dogs and cats that she currently lives with, and would be happiest in a home where she is not left alone for long periods of time. While she would likely do well as the sole dog she does enjoy playing with other dogs in the house and would do well in a home with a dog who matches her playful nature. She enjoys down time in her crate, and likes to burrow under her cave bed or in her crate at night. A 4ft + fence is a must. Rosie loves the opportunity to run in a fenced in yard several times daily. She would do well in a home with older children. We are not sure how she would do with younger children since she has not had the opportunity to meet any. Socialization/training: Rosie loves everyone. She does become excited when people come into the house, but settles quickly. She is great with older kids, adults, our dogs and cats. We are not sure how she is with unfamiliar dogs. She is fine with dogs she sees along walks, but we have never tried to allow her to greet them up close, so we do not know how she would feel. She has been great with adult children, but we are not sure about young children. She has come to work with me on numerous occasions and loves the attention that she has received. She is trained and will follow “look” and “touch” cues, and likes to sit, and give her paw. Rosie loves playing with toys!.She will grab her favorites from the toy bin and tosses them in the air. Sometimes we think she misconstrues her empty food bowl as a toy. Either that or she likes the noise it makes when tossing it around. She is quite adorable. While she is not one to get into things that she is not supposed to, she does have an affinity for the toilet paper roll. If she finds it (and she will), she will decorate your house with streams of toilet paper. Our solution has been to shut the bathroom door. Rosie is housebroken and has no accidents in the house. She will paw and whimper at our sliding door when she has to go to the bathroom. Crate trained: Rosie is crate trained and very comfortable in her crate. She will run into her crate when asked in order to earn a treat. She sleeps in her crate overnight, and when we leave the house. She will sometimes bark in her crate if our other dog is not crated next to her. She does seem comforted when our other dog is next to her. While she is crate trained, her favorite rest spot is next to us on the sofa. Leash trained: Rosie walks well on her leash. She came to us very fearful of walking on leash and would cower and try to go home when cars. With patience, time and not forcing her to walk, she now likes her walks, but seems to enjoy running in the yard the most. Activity Level: Rosie loves to run outside in our fenced yard. She appears her happiest when running around with our other dog, tossing toys or pieces of mulch in the air and playing hide and seek. She is a sweet and active girl. She currently gets about three good “runs” in the yard daily (20-30 minutes at a time). Once inside, she is easily redirected onto a rawhide flip, Kong, or teething ring. Fence: We currently have a 4 foot split rail fence with chicken wire, and she has shown no interest in jumping/climbing or digging under it. She does like to dig holes and has been known to rearrange a few of our plants if we are not watching her, but she is easily redirected onto something else if we toss a toy or tell her to go play. Behavior: Rosie is a delight. She came to us at a young age, and did show some fear behaviors which were expected given her background. She used to be hesitant along walks, but is much more comfortable now. For this reason, we have utilized yard space more than leash walks. She loves resting next to us on the sofa, but if at our feet, will sometimes startle. The solution is to keep her close to us, or she rests on her dog bed. She loves to perform tricks to earn rewards and is eager to please. She will toss her head up when praised like she is earning a grammy. She loves belly rubs. She loves being near her humans. When she was 5 months old, she went through a phase where she would chew wood moulding if left alone, but she no longer does this. We do leave chew toys out for her which she enjoys. Medical History: Rosie is a 1 year old, healthy dog who is spayed, microchipped, UTD on vaccinations, on HWP, on flea/tick preventative. She has no underlying medical issues. Foster Comments: Rosie came home with us from Turks and Caicos last summer. She has been a wonderful puppy and rehoming her has been a difficult decision for us. She truly loves her humans. She currently lives with a 3 year old English Setter, a 4 year old Chihuahua and 2 8 year old cats. She gets along well with all of our animals. She shows interest in our cats and may initially chase them, but gives up quickly and is easily redirected. She and one of our cats have bonded and she is often found corn cobbing his head which he loves. Unfortunately, as our Setter has become more behaviorally mature, he has shown increasing amounts of aggression towards Rosie and our other dog. Rosie initiates play, tries to groom him and play tug with toys. They used to play well, but he is no longer accepting of her. Due to our setter’s behavior, we now separate the dogs when we are not immediately present and for meals, but we do not feel that this is a kind long- term solution for Rosie. Rosie likes to play and is a joyful dog. We want her to be able to move around safely and in peace without fear. She has not been around young children and babies, but once growled at our neighbor's baby through our fence. To be safe, we are looking for a home with older children. We have two teenagers who she loves. Rosie has come to work with me frequently and loves sitting behind me in my chair while I work on the computer. She is a gentle and sweet little companion.
