My story

Meet Ward of the State (aka Ward)Ward’s story begins in the most heartbreaking of ways—abandoned, confused, and alone. Someone left this young, gentle soul locked in a cat carrier in a Walmart parking lot and walked away. No note. No explanation. Just a terrified cat waiting for someone to care.But fate stepped in when an angel spotted him and brought him to safety. Now under our care, Ward is slowly learning that not all humans give up on the ones who need them most.Despite what he’s been through, Ward is pure sweetness. He leans into love with quiet hope, craving affection and security. He’s neutered, vaccinated, litter box trained, and gets along well with other cats. He’s done everything right—he just needs someone to choose him, this time forever.Ward deserves a home that will cherish him, a heart that won’t turn away, and a family that sees him not as a burden—but as the beautiful boy he is. Please don’t let the rest of his story be sadness. If you are seeing our pets posted in your state, that's because you live near a transport stop, they are not currently at that location. Petfinder lists our pets as 'Out of Town' pets at other locations, and Adopt-a-Pet lists our location as a Transport stop. Those are currently the only options they offer to make this clear, so we put this description we've put at the bottom to explain it.
