** If you are interested in adopting Gizzy, please fill out our adoption application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ ** Meet Gizzy – a tender-hearted little soul ready for a fresh start. Gizzy is a 2-year-old, 16-lb Maltipoo (his breed is an educated guess) who’s just beginning to learn what it means to feel safe and loved. He was found as a stray in New Mexico and brought to a crowded shelter where he was absolutely petrified. So much so, he didn’t want anyone to come near him. But that wasn’t the real Gizzy—it was just a scared pup in survival mode. Once Gizzy got out of the shelter and into a calm, loving foster home, everything changed. In just about a day and a half, he started to come out of his shell—seeking affection, wagging his tail, and showing his sweet, gentle personality. That’s the thing about dogs like Gizzy: when they feel safe, they bloom. Right now, Gizzy is going through the scariest time of his life. The shelter was overwhelming, and transitioning again—this time to Colorado—will likely bring back some of those fearful feelings. He may need a quiet corner and a little time to adjust. But all he really asks for is patience. Let him come to you on his terms. Don’t rush it. Give him the space he needs, and before you know it (likely in a few days), you’ll see his trusting eyes and gentle heart shine through again. Gizzy feels most confident when he’s around other dogs, so we’re looking for a home with a friendly resident pup who can show him the ropes and help him feel secure. If you’re someone who understands the beauty of going slow, the magic of trust earned, and the joy of seeing a timid dog transform into your loyal companion, Gizzy might be your perfect match. He’s got so much love to give—you just have to meet him where he is. We don’t know if Gizzy has had any formal training, but a (virtual or in-person) positive reinforcement group training class will help him build confidence, bond with his new family, and master good manners. Training is essential for a successful adoption, and Farfel’s is happy to provide a list of recommended force-free trainers to set Snickers up for success. Gizzy has been fully vetted, is up to date on vaccines, and neutered. Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial. Farfel's Rescue has been doing adoptions this way since 2005 and is thrilled to adopt out ~400 dogs each year. If you are interested in adopting from us, please be sure to fill out our adoption application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ . **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting from us, please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Gizzy, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
