My story

This dog is a courtesy listing and not one of our dogs. For more information about Greyson, please contact   Dana Shield   dana@samandcharliesfarm.com;  303-949-5077 Greyson is a spirited 4-year-old Husky mix with a passion for adventure and an endless reserve of energy. Whether it’s hiking, camping, or just a long walk around the neighborhood, he’s in his element when he’s on the move. Tug-of-war and chasing balls are his favorite games, and he has a quirky love for munching on sticks and hunting grasshoppers. Highly food-motivated and intelligent, Greyson has worked with trainers and knows a wide variety of commands including recall ("here"), touch (nose to palm), sit, down, watch (eye contact), stay, place, crate, and shake. While he can be stubborn with new people, once boundaries are clear, he listens and responds exceptionally well. Like most Huskies, he tends to pull on walks, but with consistent training, he can manage a solid loose-leash heel. Greyson is deeply curious and always wants to be in the know—he’ll follow you from room to room just to be part of the action. He adores other dogs and plays rough or engages in spirited games of chase, especially with younger pups. He’s even coexisted peacefully with a cat, although his prey drive kicks in when the cat makes sudden moves. Speaking of prey drive, squirrels and rabbits can quickly grab his focus, so outdoor adventures require a handler’s focus. We do not have any kids in the family so I cannot speak to his ability with kids. Cuddly and affectionate, Greyson will happily try to be a lapdog despite his 70-pound frame. He still carries some puppy-like behaviors, including mouthing when excited and nibbling (aka cobbing) as a form of affection. He has shown minor signs of resource guarding with toys, so high-value chews are avoided to ensure safety. These signs include tension and body blocking, never a growl or teeth baring. Adopted at age two, Greyson’s early years were marked by the isolation of being a “COVID puppy.” He experienced multiple days in a row alone after quarantine was lifted, he developed some destructive habits out of boredom as a result. After his adoption with me he has shown very few signs of destructivity limited only to a board game or two over the course of the last few years, I never leave him alone for more than 6 hours and this seems to do the trick.  Greyson is a versatile companion—equally content lounging on the couch or joining you on your next adventure. He’s loyal, loving, a little wild at heart, and completely unforgettable. April 23, 2025, 9:39 am
