My story

Meet Onyx – A Truly Gentle Soul Onyx is a 16-month-old sweetheart with a calm, loving nature. She was sadly surrendered when her previous owner lost their home, but she’s remained incredibly gentle and resilient through it all. Onyx has lived peacefully with both large and small dogs—previously with three big pups (over 50 lbs, both male and female), and now in foster care with six little ones under 20 lbs. She’s submissive, well-mannered, and gets along with every dog she meets. She’d thrive in a home with any type of canine companion. She’s the perfect walking or hiking partner and is wonderfully well-behaved in the home. Onyx is fully house-trained, uses a doggy door, is crate-trained, and hasn’t shown any destructive behaviors—no chewing or accidents. She absolutely adores her people and is happiest when she’s making them proud. Onyx has been diagnosed with Valley Fever, which is treatable and common in Arizona. It’s unusual to see symptoms in a dog her age, but she’s doing well on medication. She’ll need a daily dose of Fluconazole and routine bloodwork every six months to monitor her titer levels (currently 1:8). This condition requires consistent care but doesn’t hold her back from being the amazing dog she is.
