My story

Hi everyone, my name is Jamaica, and my foster mom wants to tell you all about me! I have lived with my foster family for the past few weeks, and let me tell you, I am really enjoying family life and all the comforts of a home. I had a rough start, but I am thoroughly enjoying regular meals, dog beds, and lots of couch snuggles. I am potty trained, crate trained, and do fairly well on a leash, however, I could use some pointers on not pulling so hard...but can you blame me, I'm just so excited to be out with my people! I can be a pretty vocal dog when I first go in my crate, but I usually settle down after a minute. My foster family has a senior female dog, and while I would love to run and play with her, I do a really good job of reading her body language and recognizing when she wants to play and when she needs a break. I would do great with another dog in the home, or as a solo dog. There are two cats in my foster home as well, and with slow, repeated introductions and supervision, I have done really well with them. Basically, I am just a goofy pup who wants to play with anyone who is interested. My foster family is not sure how I would do with smaller animals, I don't necessarily have a high prey drive, but I am fairly curious about outside critters. My foster family has two elementary age boys, and I quickly learned that I love children! I do need occasional redirection to not jump on them, but as you can see from the pictures, I genuinely love them and just want to be with them. I would do well with most home environments, whether it's a single person or a whole family, other pets or me as the solo four-legged companion. A fenced in yard would be amazing but not mandatory...its definitely nice when I get a case of the zoomies. Apartment life might not be the best fit for me as I can be vocal at times, but that's because I have a lot to say. I have so much love to give that my whole-body wiggles with excitement when I see people! Ask to meet me today, I can't wait to find my new home!

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Jamaica, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
