My story

This is Tex, a big, beautiful German Shepherd. Tex's first family got her as a puppy and had her up until earlier this year - 8 years together total. As a military family, when they were deployed, they were forced to rehome her. Tex's second family has had her for the past four months. Due to Tex's size and strength and the age of the owner, she proved to be too much for them. Desperate, they'd reached out to rescues and tried to rehome. They were facing a difficult choice which is when were contacted. Knowing it was between us and euthanasia, we made space for Tex.She is having a very difficult time adjusting and spends most of her time shaking in her kennel and staring up at you with her large frightened eyes that just say "Please, get me out of this scary place."We konw that she's protective of her family and that she definitely requires someone who is comfortable with a strong puller. So far, she's been indifferent to the presence of dogs, although she may feel more open to actually playing once she's out of here and settled in.
