My story

*** Mandy is at Cat & Craft in Vista. ***Mandy #19600: brown/black tabby & white, short hair, spayed female, born approx. 2/1/19Cats: goodDogs: goodChildren: good BACKGROUND: Last year, Mandy was brought to an Imperial County shelter in a trash bag. She had a badly broken jaw. The shelter got her jaw set and she recovered, but despite her social confidence she just wasn’t getting adopted. When The Rescue House had an opportunity to help, she transferred to our care. It was discovered that the wire in Mandy’s jaw had gotten infected, so it was removed and she had some more mouth work done. Now she is doing great and is more than ready to finally meet her forever people! PERSONALITY: Mandy is an incredibly sweet, friendly, and confident cat. She will come up and rub against your legs when you’re walking across the room and follow you around like a puppy dog. She rolls on her back for tummy rubs and will sit on your lap when you’re chilling on the couch. (Mandy also enjoys cuddling in bed.) She is amazingly patient and gentle. Mandy will play with toys here and there, though her most-favored “activity” is relaxing in a nice cozy sunbeam. COMPATIBILITY: Mandy has great social skills. She is comfortable with other cats, dogs, and toddlers. The energetic 3-year-old child in her foster home loves to pet her and she is so patient and kind with him. Prior to coming to Rescue House, Mandy had a lengthy stay at a busy vet clinic with lots of exposure to dogs and did well there.Mandy is a gem of a kitty! Will she shine in your home?While healthy, Mandy has tested positive for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV). This is a type of virus that typically causes some weakening of a cat’s immune system. It is a cat-only virus and cannot be spread through casual friendly contact between cats. FIV+ cats can and do live quite normal lives in quality, duration, and happiness.
