** If you are interested in adopting Zep, please fill out our adoption application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ ** This sweet little guy is a 6 and a half year old Dachshund / Schnauzer mix. (This is the best guess done by the Texas vets.. He is a short legged, scruffy faced cutie!) Zep is the perfect size, at 16 lbs. Zep was brought into a small shelter in rural Texas and relinquished by his family because they were moving and "didn't want to deal with taking him with" them. Poor guy was very confused and sad at the shelter. He now has a ticket to Colorado and is coming to Farfel's Rescue this weekend and will be going into a foster home, where we know he will be much happier. This sweet pup is going through a bit of a whirlwind right now. He's friendly and gentle, but like anyone experiencing big life changes, he's just a little unsure of everything at the moment. Moving into a new home can be confusing, so we kindly ask that his future family give him a few days to decompress, settle in, and understand that he's finally safe. With a little patience and love, his warm personality will shine through — he just needs the chance to catch his breath. Zep absolutely lights up around other dogs! He’s made several four-legged friends at the shelter and clearly enjoys their company — whether it’s playing, lounging, or just having a buddy nearby. He would thrive in a home with another friendly dog to show him the ropes and keep him company as he settles in. A canine companion could be just the comfort he needs to feel truly at home. We don’t know if Zep has had any formal training, but a (virtual or in-person) positive reinforcement group training class will help him build confidence, bond with his new family, and master good manners. Training is essential for a successful adoption, and Farfel’s is happy to provide a list of recommended force-free trainers to set him up for success. Zep has been fully vetted, is up to date on vaccines, and neutered. Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial. Farfel's Rescue has been doing adoptions this way since 2005 and is thrilled to adopt out ~400 dogs each year. If you are interested in adopting from us, please be sure to fill out our adoption application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ . **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting from us, please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Zep, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
