Hi there, I’m Nova! If you’re reading this, you might be my future family — and I’ve got my paws crossed that you are! I’ll be honest: my story didn’t start out great. I was found wandering the road near this shelter, probably left behind. A kind human stopped to help and brought me here. I wasn’t alone, though — I had a doggy friend with me, but she was too scared to be caught that day. The shelter folks didn’t give up on her, though, and a whole month later, they finally brought her in, too. They named her Star! We’re both safe now, and while we care about each other, I’m... kind of a lot for her. (She says I have too much “enthusiasm” or something?) So we don’t have to be adopted together. Let’s talk about me though — because I’ve got lots to share! I’m still the same goofy, playful, ball-of-energy cuddle bug I’ve always been — but now I’ve really started to shine. I’ve come a long way since arriving here, and I’m not nearly as shy as I used to be. Once I know and trust you, my silly, fun-loving side comes out in full force. I can be downright goofy and love to make my people laugh! I’ve gained so much confidence, and I’m getting better at trying new things without being so scared. I’m what the humans call a “Velcro dog.” That means if you move, I move. If you sit, I sit. If you’re making a snack, I’m very interested. I love food, toys, and belly rubs in no particular order (okay, maybe food first). I ride well in the car and behave like a champ at the vet, too! While I’m braver now, I still need a little patience and time in new situations. I’m working on leash manners and basic commands, and I can be a little stubborn (or "opinionated," as the staff politely puts it), but I’m super smart and eager to learn — especially if snacks are involved! A consistent routine really helps me feel secure. I love other dogs and feel much more secure when I have a confident doggy buddy to show me the ropes. I absolutely need a home with another dog — it helps me feel relaxed and safe. Cats? I might be okay with them, but we’d have to meet first. As for kids, I’d do best with older ones who understand I still appreciate gentle handling and a little space when I’m unsure. What I want more than anything is a home full of love, patience, playtime, and snuggles. I want someone who won’t give up on me, even when I’m feeling a little unsure. I’ve got so much love to give — and now I’m ready to show it. So, what do you think? Want to meet me and see if we’re a match? I’ll be the one with big eyes, a wagging tail, and a heart ready to love. The Center for Animal Health and Welfare, PA Kennel License #02941, 1165 Island Park Rd, Easton, PA 18042
