Mila is an absolute gem—friendly, people-loving, and always ready to brighten your day with face kisses and full-body wiggles. She’s easy to leash, enjoys all-over handling, and is eager to connect with her humans. Outside, she’s bouncy and curious, sometimes chasing a ball, sometimes just happy to explore. While she’s still brushing up on her puppy manners and leash skills, she’s attentive and shows great promise with a little consistency and training. Recently, Mila had the chance to attend an off-site event—and she shined! She was excited to leave the shelter, hopped right into her harness, and needed just a little boost into the car. Once in, she was a perfect co-pilot: alert at first, then dozing off peacefully. At the event, Mila met lots of people and a few dogs too. She greeted everyone with enthusiasm—offering tail wags, kisses, and leaning in for pets. With dogs, she was mostly polite but did show some signs of environmental frustration due to the noise, movement, and general stimulation. With quick breaks and a little space, she was able to settle and re-engage calmly. Her behavior showed she’s still learning how to navigate busy environments, but she responds well to redirection and support. Afterward, Mila snoozed all the way back to the shelter, then enjoyed some quiet time in the play yard—gentle, loving, and relaxed. Mila is the kind of dog who makes you smile just by being herself. She’s young, wiggly, and full of love—and with the right person or family, she’s going to blossom beautifully. Meet Mila at ACCT Philly any day from 10 am to 6 pm BEHAVIOR 05/05/2025 volunteer notes: I had the pleasure of taking Mila to an event today. She was eager to get out of her crate, easily transitioned from a leash to a harness, & bounced her way out of the shelter to the car. While she needed a boost to get in, she was a wonderful passenger. Watching other car & people out the window for a few before she laid down and took a snooze for the remainder of our trip. Mila is young and still learning how to navigate on her leash, but with patience and time, she shows signs of improvement - nothing a little training won’t help. She met lots of people and a few other dogs too. Mila goes in quick with wiggles and kisses with everyone she meets. She enjoys being the center of attention and soaking up all the love you have to give. She was mostly well behaved with other dogs, but was showing signs of frustration that appeared to be more environmental than a personality trait. It was loud and there were a lot of toys squeaking, dogs running around, and people. When she would get frustrated and jump and bark, we would do a quick reset by walking away from the hubbub, sharing some quiet time, pets, and a few treats, which calmed her down quickly and she was able to rejoin the group easily after a short breaks. On the ride back to the shelter we sat in a lot of traffic and Mila snoozed the whole way. She loves a cozy car ride! Once back at the shelter, we hit up one of the play yards and she was quiet as a mouse, allowing pets all over, giving kisses, and being the sweet wiggly puppy she is! She’s a gem! 05/05/2025 staff notes: Good fence meet with Hugo. Approached and retreated tentatively but with increasing curiosity, especially as she saw him playing with a ball. No vocalizing, just approaching for sniffs with upright posture, ears up, low-mid level wags. 05/05/2025 staff notes: Kennel Presentation Easy to leash/social Presented at the front of the crate: lots of tail wags and toe taps. Looped easily, easy exit. Leash Skills Pulls Minimally On Leash Pulls minimally, but is attentive: checks in regularly. Handleability Loose/Allows all handling Affectionate, handler-oriented, sociable: regularly jumps up for pets, hugs, and face licks. Enjoyed all-over handling: head, ears, legs, back, hind. Tag Engages in play Bounded around, loose and wiggly and explorative, in the play yard Toys Gives up willingly Tossed a couple tennis balls while in the play yard. The first she chased down, grabbed with a soft mouth, carried over to the other side of the yard, and set down before getting distracted by something else. The second she watched but didn't chase after. Color Level Green Some puppy manners, but nothing that should overwhelm a new handler. ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in.
