My story

A volunteer writes:Joselito looked so scared when I first met him...I then just spoke softly to him a few times so he could get used to me and the sound of my voice. Few days down the line, we met again. Joselito seemed more relaxed and his beautiful eyes  were looking confidently into mine. Time to make direct contact, gently and slowly, of course. Joselito accepted my petting, leaned against my hand and purred(see his video). He had started to trust me and could likely do just the same with another experienced person. Joselito is with us as his family moved to a place not allowing pets. He is said to hide from strangers, needing time to warm up. He would be great with children and very playful although he could get a little overstimulated. His former owner told us that he was a gentle, affectionate, talkative and obedient pet who loved quiet and peace. Joselito is a young and gorgeous all ebony panther who would do best in a quiet environment  and with a new owner who understands more reserved pets. Joselito is waiting for you at the Manhattan Care CenterJoselito was outside the den with sideways ears and large pupils, but by the time it was his turn to be assessed, he was back inside the den. When the den cover was raised, he was facing forward with large pupils and sideways ears, appearing quite tense. He didn't sniff the treats, but he allowed petting with a scratcher tool while low growling. He remained frozen in place and continued to growl for a little while after the kennel door was shut.Joselito tolerates attention and petting but appears fearful or stressed in the shelter. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents. Primary Color: Black Weight: 10.4 Age: 1yrs 2mths 2wks

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Joselito, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
