My story

Meet Simba! This 69 lb. snugglebug came to us when his owner could no longer care for him due to health issues. Simba’s been adjusting to shelter life with a little nervousness at first, but once he’s had a moment to settle in, his true sweet and goofy self shines through. Simba is house-trained, crate-trained, and knows a whole list of commands—seriously, this guy has a vocabulary! He’s a big fan of belly rubs, loves to lean in for cuddles, and will happily plop his whole body in your lap if you let him. He’s treat-motivated, toy-obsessed (especially with his rope or ball), and enjoys showing off a good game of fetch... though giving the toy back is negotiable. Simba can be a little wary of strangers at first and spooks at loud noises like garbage trucks or vacuums, but once he warms up, he’s a total lovebug. We think he’d do best in a calmer home with people who will give him the time and patience to settle in and keep building up his confidence. Interested? Come to the shelter any time during open hours and talk to one of our Customer Care staff! Be sure to check the `shelter information` box on the listing to see if the pet is located at our Fairfax Campus (4500 West Ox Road, Fairfax) or our Lorton Campus (8875 Lorton Road, Lorton). Then, come in during our open hours!
