My story

DOB: Aug 4, 2024- FIV POSITIVE Meet Giselle – Petite, Playful, and Full of Personality! Giselle is a sweet, social young lady with a big personality packed into a tiny frame! Affectionate to her core, she loves snuggling on your chest or curling up in your lap—and don’t be surprised if she follows you from room to room. Watch your step, though—Giselle is always underfoot, eager to be part of everything you're doing. Playtime is where Giselle truly shines. She goes wild for her spring toys and wand games, often letting out the cutest little chirps and meows when she gets excited. She's curious, energetic, and thrives on social interaction—especially with other cats. In her foster home, she loves wrestling and racing around with the resident kitty. Because of her high energy and playful nature (which can get a bit rough), Giselle would do best in a home with a young, friendly cat who can match her enthusiasm. She’s a big fan of wet treats like Churu or Cat-it, which make excellent rewards after a play session. While Giselle is very affectionate, she does not enjoy being held and will squirm to get down. She also has sharp claws and can be a little careless with them during play, so a home without very young children is recommended to prevent accidental scratches. Giselle has been diagnosed with a chronic upper respiratory infection, likely caused by feline herpesvirus. While the condition is no longer infectious, this condition can flare up with changes or stress. Symptoms will vary, but with supportive care and reduction of environmental stress, it can be effectively managed. Giselle has tested positive for FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus). FIV+ cats can live long happy lives with a good diet, low stress, indoor homes, loving families, and annual vet check-ins. They don't require medication and can live in a home with other non-FIV+ cats, as the virus is only passed to other cats by blood (i.e. deep bite marks) and can't be passed to dogs or humans. Please don't judge her based on a blood test! Special note from the foster parent: From experience, when Giselle goes through big changes, like transitioning to a new home, she can get a little confused about her litter box habits. To help her adjust, it's important that during her first few days in her new home, she is confined to a smaller "sanctuary space" away from soft surfaces, fabrics, and furniture, with easy access to a litter box. Although this was the experience with her early on, following these steps helped her quickly get back on track.
