My story

Meet Ribbon, a sweet 6 year old female chihuahua! Ribbon was rescued from a hoarding case in east TN when she was pregnant, and she and 9 other chihuahuas were taken in by Paws Rescue League. Ribbon gave birth to 7 babies on Christmas Day, 12/25/2024. Sadly, they were born premature and only one (Tinsel) survived. Ribbon's milk never came in, so Tinsel was raised by her "auntie" Crystal, who delivered her pups one week later. Ribbon is now ready to find her furever home!  Ribbon is a shy, nervous girl who takes time to warm up to new people. She will need someone to be patient with her and allow her to come to them on her own terms, as she decompresses and learns to trust. She is good with other dogs, not cat tested but we assume she would be fine with cats. Due to her shyness, we recommend older kids 8+ who know to respect a dog's space (or no kids). Ribbon is medically up to date (will be spayed prior to adoption), pee pad trained, and working on outdoor housebreaking. As a small rescue that does not receive government funding or grants, we rely on adoption fees to stay afloat. Adoption fees help cover the following: vaccinations, wellness exams, heartworm/4DX testing, parasite prevention, spay/neuter (age-appropriate), microchipping, transport expenses, and other rescue-related overhead/administrative costs. Paws Rescue League, Inc is an all-inclusive rescue that does NOT only rescue puppies and young, healthy dogs.  We make a point to also rescue seniors, dogs with special needs, moms, and other “less desirable” dogs, knowing that we will likely incur higher veterinary expenses and that these dogs may take longer to get adopted.  As such, an individual adoption fee is not only reimbursing PRL for expenses directly related to that dog, but it is also helping us to continue our mission of taking in dogs that would otherwise be too much of a financial burden to save.
