My story

Meet Big Al with a Big ole heart of gold! Big Al was found as a stray by police and transported to the shelter. We don't know too much about him but we know he's a laid back boy who loves his people! Big Al has won over the hearts of volunteers and staff with his gentle cuddles and frequent "paw". He just loves holding hands to make the people around him feel loved. Big Al is now looking for a forever home where he can spend the rest of his days. Meet him at ACCT Philly any day from 10am-6pm! Video: Playgroup 5/13: Max Miller, Barbie, Brya, Mini Finney, Mr Snorkel, Big Al https://youtu.be/Ci-ZFrmkjtE Playgroup 5/13: Max Miller, Barbie, Brya, Big Al https://youtu.be/Mwir0sa1Wiw Behavior: Behavior eval 5/13/25: Kennel Presence: He was laying on his bed when I approached and looked up when I made a noise. He didn’t get up but leaned forward to allow me to leash him, then hopped right out of the kennel. Leash: He’s a big boy and pulls a bit on leash, but it’s very manageable! Handling: Outside in the yard, he spent most of the time sniffing around. We were in the pouring rain and he didn’t seem to mind. Wasn’t very interested in treats. Took pets from me with a calm and loose body and allowed all handling. Not interested in treats or toys that I saw. Very low energy, just gave a few tail wags when getting pets. Inside he was chill and just wanted to hang by my side getting pets. He doesn’t know paw on command but randomly liked putting his paw in my hand and holding hands, such a sweet boy! Color: Gold Play group notes 5/13/25: Not steerable, good greetings, curious, interested especially in the females, Sexually motivated, tolerant but needs supervision around other males, a little stand offish Per Staff 5/11/25 12:20 pm dogs seems scared, no aggression shown, officer walked up to dog, leashed him ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in. We are open for adoptions 7 days a week. Please visit www.acctphilly.org/adopt for details. If you are a rescue interested in pulling this animal, please email our lifesaving team, or visit here if you are not currently a rescue partner: https://acctphilly.org/acct-philly-love-local-partnership-program/ Confirmed placement is considered a confirmation of an actual rescue pull. Possible placement, interested parties, and other "TBD" statuses are not considered confirmed and do not indicate an animal is no longer urgent. All animals at ACCT Philly are from Philadelphia, as the only open-intake animal shelter in Philadelphia, we are not able to accept animals from outside of Philadelphia. ACCT Philly’s Pennsylvania kennel license number is 08313

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Big Al, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
