My story

What my friends at ACC say about me:I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe.I prefer to call the shots and enjoy coming to you when I'm ready for pets.I would do best in a home with only adult humans.I'm ready to learn! I need a patient person who has the time to work on training with me.A volunteer writes: We tried everything with Colby - our buffet of treats, all our toys. But he was distracted and seemed too worried to focus on us. That was until it was time to go in. Colby must have been tired of our failed attempts to win his affection, and decided to show us the way. He flopped over onto his back, tongue lazily laying out of his mouth, and wiggled around for belly rubs. Which of course we got - we may be busy but there is ALWAYS extra time for belly rubs. Especially when the recipient is a big brindle boy!Colby is 3 years old and 74lbs. He was surrendered due to a move, and has lots of good notes that tell us where he will thrive. Colby lived well with an 8 year old child and was friendly with kids who visited - one of his guardian's favorite things about him. He lived briefly with a cat who he hid from and avoided. He is said to avoid dogs on the street. At the shelter he has met a few dogs and been avoidant sometimes but also playbowed and was loose in his most recent greeting. Colby is looking for a home with some experience, and any number of hands that are available to give him all the belly rubs he desires.
