What my friends at ACC say about me:I have been known to shower my favorite people in love!I am a cat that is in need of a lap! I can't wait to be your new lap cat.I am finding the shelter a little overwhelming, but when it's just you and me and some peace and quiet you'll see what a love bug I am.I am looking for a home with a patient person.I can be slow to adjust to new environments. I prefer to take things at my own pace.I will flourish in a calm environment and a low-traffic home.I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe.I'm sensitive and shy. I'll need extra help from you.I would do best in a home with only adult humans.A volunteer writes: Kira was brought to us after having a home for 14 years. Considering all the big changes she's been through recently, Kira's understandably set her own tone when it comes to acclimating to shelter life. Though she was loafed in her den when I went over, I explained that all I wanted was to learn more about her. For example, her favorite treats and toys, the kind of blankets she likes to knead... but, holding a paw up to pause my inquiring monologue, Kira explained she'd prefer to focus on what she doesn't like at the moment, thank you very much. The first thing on that list is very predictably the shelter. Grumbling what turned out to be a fairly exhaustive list of things she's not particularly thrilled with at the moment, I shared some treats and closed her door.
