My story

GROMIT is a slightly fluffy adult black kitty who was first rescued back in 2016 after he was dumped in a local neighborhood. He was taken in and vetted by a kindly family, and he quickly made himself at home. Gromit has happily lived since then with his rescuer as an indoor/outdoor kitty (he has a cat door and never goes far from home). This family is now moving overseas, and they can’t take him with them.  Gromit’s personality is very mellow (he can be a bit skittish at first when meeting new people). Once he trusts you, he’ll let you rub his big belly. He’s an extra large guy at 17 lbs, although his weight has remained steady, and the vet feels he’s not especially overweight, just “a large cat”. As such, he can’t jump very high and he prefers to be a “ground dweller”; however, he loves sleeping on the bed with you. His favorite spot, though, is in front of the heat register with warm air blowing on him, curled up in his cardboard bed. One of his more notable features is his talkativeness, and he loves head scritches and snuggles. He enjoys chasing strings, fishing-pole toys, ostrich feathers, and anything with catnip. He likes being gently brushed. He is litterbox trained, and/or will potty outside, and does not spray or have accidents in the house. He has no health concerns or medical conditions. He has lived with a couple of different dogs and gets along fine with them once they have adjusted to each other, and he is tolerant of gentle kids. He seems to be happiest as the only cat, although he gets along with several nearby neighbor cats (he never fights), so he may be open to a feline companion. ***GROMIT will need to go to an indoor/outdoor home that either has a catio or a fenced backyard in a very SAFE neighborhood*** GROMIT has been neutered, microchipped, is negative for FeLV and FIV, and includes a free wellness visit with our vet partners. To meet GROMIT in foster care, please submit an adoption application for consideration at CatRescues.org/Adopt or a paper copy available at Petsmart. A volunteer will contact you within 3-5 business days for a possible meet and greet. The $100 adoption fee allows us to continue to provide care and find loving homes for abandoned and neglected cats in our Eugene/Springfield community. For more information, send an email to AdoptInfo@CatRescues.org or call 541-225-4955 option 1. ID # 2504-C0084 DOB 11/30/15 (est) BEST AS AN ONLY CAT (SEE TEXT) GOOD WITH RESPECTFUL DOGS GOOD WITH GENTLE, CAT-SAVVY CHILDRENMay 17, 2025, 1:02 am

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Gromit, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
