My story

Luna's Personality Luna is a very friendly, inquisitive, and confident kitty. Despite his name, Luna is a BOY! When he was a kitten, his family thought he was a girl so they named the kitten Luna. He knows his name so we haven't changed it. Luna is very social and enjoys being petted. He loves scratches under the chin or behind his ears. He hasn't decided yet if he likes laps, but he enjoys hanging out with his foster mom and interacting with people. Luna meows for attention if you've been gone for a while, and he greets you at the door. Luna adapted well to his foster home after just a couple of days. He is discovering how mysterious new “creatures” seem to be lurking around every corner. Such as a toy his foster moves out from under the sofa or the fringe edge of a tablecloth. Even the slightest movement from these moving creatures initially spooks him as he darts backwards. Then he cautiously investigates until he knows it’s just a game. At that point he hops inside a box or a paper bag to take cover until it’s safe to “attack” them. Luna loves to find adventures and enjoys having plenty of places to play "hide and seek." He is very intelligent so odds are he would enjoy cat puzzles...we will try these next! Luna even found a drawer full of cat toys and now knows where to go to fetch himself a new toy. What Type of Home Luna Needs Luna needs a home where he has plenty of room to roam around. He is use to living in a single family home with multiple people, including children. He needs a home with more than one person. A family with older kids would be fine. He can get a little 'mouthy' when he plays so we are teaching him some manners. We don't know how he would be with other cats or dogs, so we are seeking a home with no other pets. Where Luna Came From Luna came from a loving home that was no longer able to care for him. So they contacted their neighborhood "cat lady" who happens to be an SPCA NOVA volunteer to ask for help finding Luna a new home.PLEASE NOTE:  we only adopt to residents of the DC metro area, which includes DC, Prince Georges and Montgomery Counties in MD, and Arlington, Fairfax, Prince William, and Loudoun Counties in VA. Please see our adoption guidelines at  https://spcanova.org/about-us/adoption-policies/. May 22, 2025, 4:14 pm

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Luna, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
