My story

Barley - URGENT!!! From a volunteer at the Bradshaw Shelter in Sacramento: Hi! One of our favorite dogs, Barley, an Akita Shepherd Mix is on the euthanization list for this Wednesday, 5/21/25. He is a shelter favorite (and my personal favorite). Beautiful, super calm, easy to handle, not leash reactive, a very sweet boy - one of best behaved dogs in the shelter but I think he has been overlooked because of his reserved Akita traits.  Here is some more info about him: Barley #A880184, a brindle and white, 4-year old Akita Shepard Mix This calm and gentle boy may seem aloof and stoic at first, but give him a bit to warm up and you’ll see his playful side emerge — especially if a game of fetch is involved! Barley has great leash manners, and enjoys affection and booty scratches. He has met other dogs in playgroups but tends to be a little pushy with males and probably do best with female dogs and thoughtful introductions.
