My story

Meet Lexie! This sweet, scruffy little survivor is a huge bundle of love in a tiny package. Lexie was dropped off at a shelter just shy of her 15th birthday. She arrived to the Haven scared, confused, and shaking ~ wondering what she did wrong. She didn’t do anything wrong; her only “fault” was getting old. Now that she's gotten the medical care she so desperately needed, Lexie has settled right in at her foster home and is letting her personality shine. She's come out of her shell to reveal a true sweetheart who just adores getting attention, both from her people and other dogs. She's on the aloof side and not a huge cuddler right now, but we hope that with time she'll become more affectionate as she learns to trust again. Lexie is a gentle soul who loves going for walks and positively prances when she's on the leash - you can just feel the joy radiating from her when she's out and about. The only thing she may love just as much are her post-walk naps - you'll hear her snoring gently while she's on "energy saving mode" afterwards. Speaking of cute noises, you may also hear her oinking like a pig when she smells something good! Lexie is such a sweet, gentle, easy girl, and basically everything she does is adorable - her foster family even loves the dainty way she drinks water. She's also an expert interior designer: not only does she fluff her beds to make sure they are at optimal comfiness, she also moves them to make sure they conform with her version of feng shui. It’s a long process and it takes a lot of effort but it’s so worth it for the perfect nap. Lexie would love a family that will take her for lots of walks, has plenty of soft beds for napping, and has another dog who wants to pal around with her. She is totally housebroken and well behaved when home by herself. She needs a little help if she has to go up or down more than a few steps, and while her vision and hearing aren't the best, she doesn't let that stop her from getting around and enjoying life. She takes daily thyroid pills, preferably wrapped in delicious treats. Lexie has been through a lot but still has so much love to give. She deserves a quiet, cozy retirement with someone who will spoil her the way she's always deserved and give her the time and space she needs to warm up to them. Could you be her person?
