My story

Meet the happiest girl around, Charlotte! Charlotte is estimated to be around 9 months old, and she is the epitome of a ray of sunshine. She has an infectious smile, and she is always there to put a smile on your face, either with her goofy antics or some quality cuddle time. Charlotte is on the petite side and weighs about 45lbs. We think she's mostly full-grown, but she may fill out a little. Charlotte came to us from a local shelter, where she came in as a stray. She was found with a fractured leg after possibly being hit by a car. While at the shelter, she was infected with parvovirus (a deadly disease that has no cure). She fought hard and recovered from the virus, and then was brought to UC Davis to have her fractured leg assessed by the orthopedic surgeons. Imaging showed that her leg was healing well and she wouldn't need surgery, just continued crate rest. The minute our Canine Program Coordinator met her, she knew she was special, and we are so grateful to have been able to take her into the rescue. She has finished her crate rest and is oh-so ready to start the rest of her life with her forever family! Charlotte is a charming girl who wins everyone over with her striking looks and darling personality. She oozes joy and is a perfect example of how resilient and wonderful rescue dogs can be. She loves everyone she meets and is the ideal adventure buddy for someone who also needs a dog that can chill during the work day. She seems like she would be a great hiking and running buddy as she has great leash manners. She has even learned how to ride in a canoe! Being a teenager, she is in the phase of life where she has some basics down, but is still perfecting her manners needs a family committed to helping her continue to learn. Charlotte has done great with all the dogs she has met. She would love another playful pup in her new home, but she also would be more than happy to be your one and only - more cuddles for her! Charlotte has been doing great living with dog-savvy cats after a slow introduction and with proper supervision. Charlotte could be a wonderful addition to a family with kids 10 years and older. Charlotte has been doing great with her housetraining, but may have a few accidents while adjusting to a new environment and routine. She has been doing well hanging out in her crate while her foster parents are at work and sleeping through the night. She usually will whine for a few minutes and then settle in.  Charlotte is allergic to bees and can't be left unsupervised when outside. She responds well with Benadryl, and her new family should have some on hand anytime they are out about about with her. Charlotte is such a wonderful girl who can't wait to find her people! If you think she might be the little lovebug you need in your life, submit an application today!   Charlotte's adoption fee is $300.   Apply to adopt here!   https://form.jotform.com/52017002013129/   Applications are also available on the website (www.yolospca.org)  It can take up to 3-5 business days to hear back once you have submitted an application. The Yolo County SPCA is a private, not-for-profit, foster home-based animal rescue organization and does not have a shelter. All our animals awaiting adoption are in foster homes. Our adoption fees help us cover the cost of spay/neuter surgery, microchip and registration, and rabies vaccination (if over 4 months of age at intake or spay/neuter) for all animals. Dogs are tested for heartworm, started on preventatives, and given a DAPP vaccination. Adult dogs are up to date on their vaccinations prior to adoption. Puppies will be current on the vaccinations appropriate to their age. The adopter is responsible for additional vaccinations as necessary after the adoption. For more information about an animal, please email dogs@yolospca.org. For more general questions, please see our website at www.yolospca.org. June 5, 2025, 4:13 pm

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Charlotte, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
