My story

Clownfish is a sweet, gentle boy with a heart of pure gold! Clownfish swam his way to ACCT Philly on May 22nd after the police received a report of an abandoned dog. While his owner was contacted, sadly they were unable to reclaim him due to falling on hard times. While not much is known about Clownfish’s history, he has proven to be a shy, lower energy pup in the shelter, and the definition of a gentle giant! Staff and volunteers alike have praised Clownfish for his easygoing demeanor, trusting nature, and loving spirit. Despite the uncertainty in his past, Clownfish has shown nothing but patience and kindness, and is as mild-mannered and sweet around other dogs as he is with people. While he can be a little timid at first when meeting other pups, he loves spending time with his canine pals during daily doggy playgroups and has been very tolerant of other dogs of all energy levels and play styles. Clownfish enjoys treats and takes them nicely, and generally walks very well on his leash. His favorite thing is spending time outside, taking long walks and sniffing everything around him! This pup would love nothing more than to find himself a loving family who will shower him with affection and attention for the rest of his days. Since he can be timid and cautious when meeting new friends, Clownfish would be best suited for a home with teenagers or just adults, and he may welcome a canine sibling to share his household with! Clownfish is open to meeting older kiddos as well as your resident dogs prior to adoption in order to ensure everyone is a good match. Clownfish is currently in foster care, so email the foster team to schedule a meet today! Calm, sweet, loves to be pet and loves treats! Volunteer noted 5/23: “We noticed Clownfish had a large chain so we took him out to attempt to remove. I put my leash in the kennel. He was standing at the front. He took a sniff of the leash and seemed interested. I opened the loop more and was able to easily leash him for removal. In the volunteer office, we started to give him treats which he took gently. He allowed handling and petting. We were able to slip the chain off his neck with no issue. He loved exploring the office. He sniffed all around. I took him outside. He mostly loose walked. In the yard, he continued to explore and use the bathroom. He showed no interest in toys or play. He returned to his kennel with no issue. [Evaluated] Gold.” Staff noted on 5/23 during his medical intake exam that Clownfish was “friendly and alert.” Staff noted 5/24 during playgroup: “Clownfish was timid and unsure at the gate, steerable and nervous. in the yard he was conflicted with if he should play or freeze and did cute play bows and zooms trying to engage with the other dogs. he was very tolerant of dogs mounting him and took corrections.” Staff noted 5/24: “Had zero issues throughout [playgroup]. Low energy.” Volunteer noted 5/26: “Clownfish is a chill young man who enjoys being outside. He took treats gently and loved to sniff around the yard. Such a sweet boy!” Staff noted 5/31 during an enrichment activity: “Nosework - he enjoyed the sniff maze and did well doing it parallel with Debo.” MEDICAL INFORMATION Clownfish’s initial intake exam noted his eyes, ears, and nose appeared clear and clean. His coat was found to be dirty but free of fleas. He was found to be an intact male, and was BAR. His teeth were noted to be white with slight staining. He weighed 66.1 pounds. On 5/29 Clownfish was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection. He tested positive for pneumovirus and was moved into an isolation area, and started on a course of medication to help him recover.
