My story

** $1,680 in pledges for the rescue that pulls! ** ** Interested foster through rescue! ** Nova is a 1-year-old female cat who came in as an owner surrender on 5/19 due to having seizures on 5/18. She is eating and drinking normally. On 5/21 staff noted: "Pt hasn't had any seizures or abnormal neurological activity observed since being in shelter. Pt was still being fractious when entering cage today. Per Dr removed Code red status. Will revisit tmrw to possible examine further and determine pathway." On 5/19 exam staff noted: “No info given except that O had since 5 weeks old and reports that seizures started yesterday. Bright, alert, responsive and hissing, mm's are pink, teeth are fairly clean. Decided to get blood before stressing Nova out any further (muzzle placed) and gave gabapentin. Assessment: Unable to handle Pt anymore as he was lunging at feral den. Felv/FIV negative CBC/C17/lytes NSF.” On 5/19 staff noted per owner: “Cat got arm stuck in heater about a month ago trying to get toy from under it, owner believes she was electrocuted. Immediately after, threw water on her and gave chest compressions and she was completely fine, acting totally normal until yesterday 5/18. Had a seizure yesterday 5/18 and today 5/19. Has not been to vet. Offered vet resources and referral for exam, but also explained that if it is neurological then more extensive testing will likely be needed and we would not be able to continue covering the cost of those tests. Owner decided to proceed with general health surrender because "it's what is best for Nova". ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in Philadelphia. We are open for adoptions 7 days a week. Please visit www.acctphilly.org/adopt for details. If you are a rescue interested in pulling this animal, please email our lifesaving team, or visit here if you are not currently a rescue partner: https://acctphilly.org/acct-philly-love-local-partnership-program/ Confirmed placement is considered a confirmation of an actual rescue pull. Possible placement, interested parties, and other "TBD" statuses are not considered confirmed and do not indicate an animal is no longer urgent. All animals at ACCT Philly are from Philadelphia, as the only open-intake animal shelter in Philadelphia, we are not able to accept animals from outside of Philadelphia. ACCT Philly's Pennsylvania kennel license number is 08313.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Nova, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
