My story

Meet the strong and adorable Count Coco Fang! This handsome 1-year-old Retriever Mix was brought to us as a stray at the beginning of March. Upon his arrival, our Medical Team examined his health and discovered that he was suffering from Elbow Incongruency, a condition where the bones of the elbow joint don’t align properly. This condition can cause severe pain, affecting their ability to walk and stand properly.Count Coco Fang received surgery on his elbow to help with this condition and has been making great progress, but he still has a long recovery journey ahead of him. He is looking for an adopter who will understand that, despite his young age and energy, he has a strict recovery plan that needs to be followed. Count Coco Fang can go on shorter leash walks for 5-10 minutes at a time, but he does have to stay on the leash at all times to make sure he doesn`t run around and injure his leg. He should be crate restricted while inside, but can be allowed to have calm, supervised time outside of his crate for 15-30 minutes at a time, 2 -3 times a day. He should also not be allowed to run, jump, or participate in roughhousing. Adopters are encouraged to follow up with their primary care veterinarian to determine when Count Coco Fang can resume normal activity and to determine an appropriate schedule for returning to full activity after extended crate rest post-operatively.Count Coco Fang spent 2 months in our Leeu Naylor Medical Building and is finally ready to find the perfect family that we know is out there for him! He is a super sweet and lovable little guy who will make the best and loyal companion. If you’re ready to open your heart to a pup who just needs a little extra care, Count Coco Fang may be your perfect match.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt COUNT-COCO-FANG, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
