My story

Meet Hero! This 2-year-old neutered male is a beautiful beige Jindo-Retriever mix, currently weighing 10 kg. Hero was found wandering in small town with a necrotic front left leg, which had to be amputated after all nerve tissue in the forearm was found dead. Now, he’s healing wonderfully in a foster home and adjusting like a champ!   Hero has all the classic charm of a Retriever—affectionate, lively, and eager to bond. He’s full of playful energy without being overwhelming, and he adores attention, cuddles, and even a bit of roughhousing. Eye contact, snuggles, and laying his head on your arm are his favorite ways to connect. He’s friendly with everyone, regardless of age or gender, and even loves to greet cats, dogs, and the occasional frog during his walks—never aggressive, just curious!   He’s well-behaved on a leash and shows interest in other dogs but never acts out. Although he once barked back at a dog that barked first, he typically passes by calmly. Loud noises like traffic or construction don’t bother him at all. Despite having only three legs, Hero moves with confidence and is quickly getting used to walking this way. The vet has no concerns and believes he’ll adapt fully soon. If he walks or runs for over 40 minutes, he might need a quick 5–10 minute break, but he’s soon ready to go again. He loves being outside so much that he sometimes resists coming back indoors!   Hero is also a fan of car rides and just relaxing on a bench with his person. He’s currently living harmoniously with another dog, and while he might get a little jealous for attention, he knows how to wait his turn and never guards food or treats. He’s incredibly smart—he nailed pad training on his first day, learned “sit” and “wait” in a minute with treats, and figured out his surroundings within a week. He’s quiet in his kennel and typically does his business outside, though he’s also pad-trained indoors.   He’s expressive in the most endearing way—he doesn’t bark or howl, but he talks. When he’s happy, excited for a walk, enjoying a meal, or just feeling affectionate, Hero makes adorable mumbling sounds. He’s gentle with children under 13, comfortable being picked up with an arm under his belly, and even shows his belly to people he trusts. He greets familiar and unfamiliar dogs alike with friendly enthusiasm, walks calmly without pulling, and focuses more on sniffing than rushing ahead. Best of all, he lives peacefully with house cats, too. Hero is a loving, expressive, and all-around wonderful companion ready to find his forever home!   Send in your application today through our website   https://adoptmekoreanrescue.org/adoption-application/   He can arrive at Vancouver or Toronto airport and may be able to arrive at some US airports (Seattle, LA, NY, Boston etc) where we have flight volunteers. If interested, please contact us. ##2411760##

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Hero, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
