My story

Animal ID: 948197. How this pet arrived: Captain was brought in by his previous owner on April 16, 2025.Why this pet is the one for you:Ahoy! Meet Captain (#948197) and Lax (#948198), two senior cats on a mission: to commandeer your comfiest couch and nap into retirement glory. Captain is the more outgoing of the duo-he's the kind of guy who might casually saunter up, say "meow" like he owns the place. He's a little unsteady in the back legs, but don't worry-he still gets the zoomies on occasion. Captain has a condition called spondylosis where the bones of the spine (vertebrae) develop bony growths called bone spurs. It's usually caused by aging and degeneration of the spine over time. In cats like Captain, it can lead to stiffness, reduced mobility, or mild unsteadiness in the back legs (ataxia), especially if the bony changes affect the nerves. Lax is his more refined counterpart-more "do not disturb" than "life of the party." He's not a fan of loud kids or overbearing dogs (especially the big ones), but he's been known to cohabitate peacefully with a polite small pup. He's currently doing well on his special urinary diet (Purina UR, très gourmet) and would like to keep it that way, thank you very much. A consult with your vet before adoption is recommended to keep him purring along. Both have had dental work, because even elder statesmen deserve a dazzling smile-but future vet visits are still on the menu. These two are mostly lounge lizards, but don't be surprised if a random burst of geriatric zoomies occurs. Don't forget to bring two cat carriers when you come to adopt them! Primary Color: Classic Tabby Weight: 11.68 Age: 13yrs 1mths 3wks

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Captain, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
