Brooks is a big, lovable guy who hasn’t quite figured out he’s not a lap dog—he’ll happily snuggle up as if he weighs 10 pounds! This sweet and sturdy pup is full of personality and loves every human he meets. He thrives on attention and would be happiest in a home where he gets plenty of affection, playtime, and exercise. Brooks is energetic, playful, and a fetch fanatic—if there’s a ball, he’s ready to chase it! He’s also a big fan of walks, runs, and rides in the car, ranger, or golf cart. He enjoys lounging on his cozy cot when it’s time to relax and loves his toys just as much as he loves people. He’s crate trained and potty trained (has done great being left out of his kennel for 3–4 hours with no accidents). He knows commands like “sit” and “lay down” and is working on polite greetings (learning not to jump up when he’s excited). With other dogs, Brooks does best with slow introductions. He’s respectful when another dog tells him “no” and has done especially well with calmer-natured companions. Due to his strength and exuberance, we recommend a home without small children—he adores them, but may accidentally knock them over with his enthusiasm. Brooks is outgoing, curious, and ready for anything. He’s also a bit of an escape artist and has been known to clear a 6-foot fence (often in pursuit of new dog friends), so a secure yard or leash walks are a must. If you're looking for a joyful, active, affectionate dog who will be your ride-or-die best friend, Brooks is your guy. He’s got the energy to keep up on adventures and the heart to settle down with you at the end of the day. Brooks is ready to meet you—and probably bring you a toy! Brooks ishouse, crate and leash trained. Currently he weighs around 70 lbs and the best estimate on his age is 2 to 3 years. Brooks' Ideal home: A secure yard or willingness to use a leash until he feels safe. No young children due to his size and he might knock them over.
