My story

Petra is a pretty and gentle, female adult dog seeking a patient and loving home! She weighs 58lbs and has a beautiful light-colored brindle coat with a white chest and paws. Petra has been somewhat timid and reserved at the shelter in her kennel. Once Petra gets outside on a walk, her tail starts wagging and her friendly personality shines through! Petra could use a family willing to get to know her at her own pace, and work to increase her canine confidence. An important thing to know about Petra is that she has a tendency to eat household items. Petra’s new family will need to monitor her to prevent ingestion of inappropriate items. While at the shelter, Petra has been around other dogs and has been tolerant while expressing her need for personal boundaries. If you have another doggy family member respectful of canine-personal space, please bring them to the shelter to meet Petra and make sure she is a good fit for your pack! This pet is eligible for an Adoption Audition! What is an Adoption Audition? It’s a 30-day, no-strings-attached, trial adoption period. You can take this pet home to try it out! Interested? Come to the shelter any time during open hours and talk to one of our Customer Care staff!Be sure to check the `shelter information` box on the listing to see if the pet is located at our Fairfax Campus (4500 West Ox Road, Fairfax) or our Lorton Campus (8875 Lorton Road, Lorton). Then, come in during our open hours!
