My story

Meet this sweet lady, Abigail! Abigail is a 60 lb. affectionate pup with a playful attitude and a heart that’s learning to trust! Abigail spent some time in foster, showing her sweet, silly personality! Zooming around for belly rubs, snuggling up at your feet, and giving enthusiastic kisses. She walks well on leash and enjoys exploring the world with you, especially when things are calm and familiar! While she can be unsure around other dogs or new people, she’s made great progress with gentle guidance and positive reinforcement. With some space and reassurance, she quickly settles back into her happy, curious self. She responds especially well to calm verbal cues and is eager to keep learning. Abigail is house-trained and crate-savvy, often putting herself to bed or seeking out her safe space when she needs a break. At home, she’s content to lounge, follow you around the house, or nap nearby while you read or work. She loves looking out the window or glass door to keep tabs on the neighborhood. Abigail has shown that she can be a little unsure about new canine friends. If you have a resident pup at home, we are requiring a dog-to-dog visit to ensure compatibility! She’d do best in a calm, structured home where she can continue to build confidence and soak up all the love! Abigail is sensitive, loyal, and full of potential! Ready to bond deeply with someone who understands her and is willing to give her the time and patience she needs. If you`re looking for a devoted companion with a big personality and even bigger heart, come meet Abigail today! This pet is eligible for an Adoption Audition! What is an Adoption Audition? It’s a 5-day, no-strings-attached, trial adoption period. You can take this pet home to try it out! Interested? Come to the shelter any time during open hours and talk to one of our Customer Care staff! Be sure to check the `shelter information` box on the listing to see if the pet is located at our Fairfax Campus (4500 West Ox Road, Fairfax) or our Lorton Campus (8875 Lorton Road, Lorton). Then, come in during our open hours! Both of our locations are open Tuesdays and Wednesdays 12-5 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays 12-7 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays 11 a.m.-5 p.m. For more information on our adoption process, including requirements and fees, visit: www.fairfaxcounty.gov/animalshelter/adopt

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Abigail, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
