My story

Meet Do’Boy — a sweet, stocky little guy with a big heart and an even bigger need for love. At 9½ years old, Do’Boy found himself at KC Pet Project when animal control brought him in after he was found tied to a tree, and it’s believed his previous owner may have passed away. Sadly, Do’Boy doesn’t have a home to return to. Weighing in at 48 pounds, Do’Boy may be short in stature, but he’s full of personality. Despite his age, he still has plenty of pep in his step — didn’t you hear? Nine is the new three! He loves to play with toys and soaks up every bit of attention he can get. The shelter, though, is a hard place for him. All the noise and commotion have left him incredibly stressed and confused. He doesn’t understand why he’s here, and it’s taking a visible toll on his spirit. What Do’Boy needs most is a soft place to land — a patient, understanding family who can give him time to decompress and feel safe again. Senior dogs like Do’Boy deserve to spend their golden years surrounded by love, not in a kennel. Do`Boy would love to meet any potential canine siblings! Our staff will carefully handle all dog-to-dog introductions at the shelter to ensure a great match. Feel free to bring your pup along when you come to meet him! Do’Boy would do best in a calm, adult-only home where he can truly relax and feel safe. A quieter environment without young children will help him settle in and thrive as he decompresses from all he’s been through. He’s a sweet boy who just needs a little guidance and support to become the best version of himself. Do’Boy is eager to learn and full of potential—he’s just looking for a patient, understanding family who’s willing to help him along the way.Do`Boy was able to go on a Dog Day Out recently and here is what they had to say, `On our day out, Do’ Boy was an excellent car rider, he hopped straight into my car. Do’ Boy was great on leash and met every single person with a wiggly body and a happy tail. Do’ Boy loves to be in your lap, but he’s also content napping on the floor. For being a senior, Do’ Boy loves to play with his toys SO much! Do’ Boy had zero potty accidents the entirety time I had him, he did all of his business outside.`Do`Boy is neutered, microchipped, up to date on his vaccinations, and ready for his forever home! Do` Boy is living in a foster home. If you would like to meet him please email foster@kcpetproject.org.His ADOPTION FEE IS WAIVED! We want all our dogs to have homes as qu

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Do' Boy, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
