My story

Prior to coming to SAAP, Nancy Drew was an outdoor girl with limited socialization skills. Once rescued by SAAP, her first job was to nurture her babies and help socialize them. Now that she has fully weaned her puppies, the focus has shifted to helping Nancy learn how to just be a dog—experiencing love, comfort, and companionship as she continues to blossom in her foster home. This sweet girl has been doing wonderfully with her potty training. At night, she sleeps in her crate and will gently whimper when she needs to go outside. She’s also beginning to learn how to walk on a leash. When she feels unsure, she may pause—but with gentle encouragement and positive praise, she continues on with growing confidence. She’s discovered a love for toys and absolutely enjoys snuggling on the couch with her humans. She’s affectionate and likes to give hugs, often standing up on her back legs to show her love. She also enjoys relaxing on her elevated dog bed—it’s one of her favorite spots to unwind. She would thrive in a home with dog-savvy, respectful older children. What she needs most is a patient and loving adoptive family willing to keep building her confidence and, if needed, work with a trainer to help her continue to grow and become a well socialized dog!   June 3, 2025, 3:18 pm
