Name:  Malfalda         Best Guess for Breed: Retriever and feist mix   Best Guess for Age:  3 years as of June 2025        SEX: Female   Approximate Weight:  23 lbs   Gets Along With:  Malfalda does well with other dogs! She's met kids and done well with them but hasn't lived with them to our knowledge. We haven't seen her with cats but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!   Currently Living at:  Puerto Rico shelter; needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get on a freedom flight here!   Special adoption considerations:   Dogs from Puerto Rico have a major transition to go through when they arrive and will need humans who are very committed to socialization. We think Malfalda would do best with either a resident dog or a family who can make sure she can go on walks regularly with other dogs, visit the dog park, or go to doggie daycare to learn the ropes.      Malfalda is Looking For:   Her forever home! This gem of a pup was owned - but allowed to roam the streets - in Puerto Rico. The inevitable happened and the owner surrendered her before she gave birth. She did an amazing job raising Baby Susanita, Baby Raquel, Baby Libertad, Baby Beatriz, Baby Guille, Baby Felipe in the shelter! This is what shelter staff said about her:Malfalda's puppies were born in our care and are super cute, short-legged, chunky, happy, and silly. Malfalda is a very loving, gentle dog. She has been a great mom, and she's ready to have her own person to nurture her. She is independent and quiet; loves sunbathing and belly rubs.    Now her babies are all off to get adopted and Malfalda can't wait to get her own humans too! Long sniffy walks, all the adventures her new family can dream up, endless snugs - and most of all, always being safe and loved and under her own roof! In exchange she promises all the love and loyalty in her little body! What My Foster Says About Me:   We will update this once she has spent some time in foster care  Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter.
