My story

SCAR - 5 years old, 70 pounds, house trained, needs proper introductions to new people. Scar was surrendered when he was no longer allowed at the apartment complex where he lived. He's a typical German Shepherd with his beautiful and healthy thick black and brown fur, long strong tail, and tendency to bark from behind the bars.  Once outside, he is friendly and sits quickly for treats. As a GSD, Scar is a working dog so please read up to see if the breed would be a good fit for your family. As a GSD he is smart (knows commands) and is very active. A job would be great for him! Scar enjoys going for walks and is used to walking 3 times a day.  He's active and always ready to go but I'm sure after a long day of adventure, I bet he'd love to just hang out with his humans. He can be trusted roaming free when left alone.  He is not a fan when it comes to grooming (think muzzle) and we are told he reacts poorly to other dogs. We did try him with a couple of very easy-going dogs and he sniffed appropriately and allowed them to sniff him but he didn't seem to be interested in anything more. He showed his teeth as a correction to the other dogs when he felt uncomfortable. The dogs we had him with are very good socially so they listened and backed away. We will share more when we learn more. For now, it's probably best he be the only pet in a home. Scar needs proper introductions to new people but don't worry bc he seems to warm up quickly. He doesn't seem to be a fan of strangers coming up to him and reaching out to pet him. (Think German Shepherd breed lol)  If you are ready for a big rascal who might steal things off of your counter one minute (stinker!) and then the next gently place his big paws on your chest for a snuggle, come on out to meet Scar! If you'd like to meet Scar or even foster him to learn more, stop by any day between 12-5!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.June 24, 2025, 9:48 am
