Leroy would make a great family dog; he’s very calm and low-key. He likes to spend his day finding the most comfortable place to snooze, whether burrowed under the covers, on top of pillows, or in a sun spot. He’s happiest cozied up next to someone, but is okay being home by himself or with his foster brother for a few hours. Leroy is a very curious dog and will inspect your groceries for anything tasty and smell everything outside! He does great in the car and out about when coming along for errands. He is potty trained but will try to mark sometimes. We are working on training him. He’s almost got the hang of basic commands like sit, paw, and stay. Leroy would do well with almost anyone: a family, other dogs, etc. As long as you give him belly rubs, strawberries, and lots of love, he’s a happy boy. We rescued Leroy Dec 30, 2024. He arrived at the shelter as a stray (but this was his second time there as a stray), likely dumped by his owner. He had several scabs on his body, leading the vet to believe that he lived in a kennel outdoors in a rural area. What else tipped us off to his previous outdoor life? He was infected with heartworm. We treated it, and he’s heartworm-free now. Health consideration: He's blind in the right eye. It was wounded prior to rescue and never cared for. Fostered in Los Angeles, CA. We adopt out of state! You have to travel to the dog to pick them up.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Leroy, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
